Update for January 20, 2010

Health Services is offering the H1N1 flu vaccine to all UC Merced campus community members (students, staff and faculty), spouses/partners and children ages 10 years and above.

Students receive the flu shot for FREE. Staff/faculty and family members need to pay an $8 administrative fee at the Cashier's Office before going to the flu shot clinic.

Update for December 1, 2009

UC Merced Health Services will provide free 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine clinics to the following high risk groups:

  • Students age 24 and under; and
  • Students age 25 to 64 with underlying medical conditions

Additional H1N1 flu shot clinics will be scheduled over the next several weeks to accommodate the broader campus community. Staff and faculty will need to pay an $8 administrative charge in advance at the Cashier's Office.

Note: The 2009 H1N1 vaccine is thimerisol-free.

Update for October 30, 2009

The Merced County Department of Public Health will offer special H1N1 flu vaccine clinics beginning Tuesday, Nov. 3. The vaccine will be distributed to people in the target groups based on recommendations from the CDC:

  • Pregnant women;
  • People who live with or care for children younger than six months of age;
  • Health care and emergency services personnel with direct, face- to-face patient contact;
  • Healthy children — two through four years of age;
  • Children – three through eighteen years of age who have chronic medical conditions.

Update for October 26, 2009

Free flu kits are now available for enrolled UC Merced students. Kits contain a CDC pamphlet, disposable thermometer, surgical mask and hand sanitizer. Students can pick up a kit at the Health Center, Students First Center or Housing Office. Info: 209-228-2273.

Update for October 22, 2009

A nationwide shortage of seasonal flu vaccine has forced UC Merced to cancel its October shot clinics. Despite numerous attempts, Health Services has not been able to obtain additional vaccine from vendors. We will announce future seasonal flu shot clinics when additional vaccine becomes available. Check with your primary care physician's office about seasonal flu shot availability.

Update for October 15, 2009

The flu shot clinic scheduled for this Friday, October 16, has been canceled due to a shortage of the seasonal flu vaccine. Health Services expects to receive the remainder of its order of seasonal flu vaccine next week. We will announce additional flu clinics when we receive the additional shipment. Contact Health Services for information about upcoming clinics or view Merced County's seasonal flu clinic schedule.

Update for September 30, 2009

Flu Shot Clinic Dates (each Friday in October): Beginning Oct. 2, Health Services will offer seasonal flu shots free to registered students. Flu shots are available to faculty and staff for $10.

Students, faculty and staff must complete an Influenza Consent Form (available at the Student Health Center and Students First Center) before going to the flu shot clinic. Faculty and staff must pay at the Cashier's Office before visiting the clinic. The clinic is not set up to accept payments.
